Sailing season has begun! The Charles is still much colder than the air, so it's important to stay dry side up. I practiced a new "man overboard" technique that replaces the traditional jibe with a friendlier tack. We also tried sailing sans rudder, which is surprisingly effective when you get the weight transfer right. I'm feeling pretty good in the boat. Now I need to wait for a red-flag-plus day with whitecaps to take my advanced jib certification test. This particular summer goal is now at the mercy of the weather gods.
In other news, the grilled octopus at Vlora (albanian) is the best cephalopod I have ever tasted in my life. The texture reminded me a lot of the eel at the all-unagi restaurant in kyoto, but the light citrus sauce made it extra-special.
